Questions,
answered.

What areas do you cover?
Perham Services is based in Kittery, Maine and works on both sides of the state line. In Maine: Kittery, York and Eliot, out toward South Berwick, Berwick, Ogunquit and Wells. In New Hampshire: Portsmouth, Newington, New Castle, Rye, North Hampton, Hampton, Seabrook and Dover. If you are a little further out, call and ask.
What does a house clean cost?
House cleaning is priced by the number of bedrooms, on a published list: $110 for a one-bedroom, $165 for two, $210 for three and $280 for four, and the rate is the same whether you book it weekly, bi-weekly or as a one-time clean. Five-bedroom homes are listed too, ask for the price. Confirm current rates when you call.
How much is window washing?
Windows are charged per window at $12.00, washed inside and out, with screens at $5.00 each and storm windows at $5.00 each priced separately. That way you only pay for the screens and storms you actually want done. Tell them roughly how many of each and the total is easy to work out in advance.
What is floor care, and why is it separate?
Vacuuming and mopping remove what is loose and what sits on top. Floor care is restoration, different machines and a different skill. On a commercial hard floor the layers of finish take the traffic, and once those dull and scuff, mopping cannot reach the problem because the damage is in the coating. Nathaniel Perham describes himself on his own site as a specialist in floor care, which most house cleaners are not.
Do I have to sign up for a regular schedule?
No. Cleans can be weekly, bi-weekly or one-time, and the published price is the same either way. A regular schedule mostly settles onto a consistent day and time, which is what makes it easier for both sides, but a single clean is perfectly normal.
How do you schedule visits?
They book in three-hour arrival windows rather than promising an exact time, because a cleaning day is hard to predict to the minute, and they send a text when they are leaving for your home or office. Days are booked on your preferred day plus one, in case of conflicts. New clients are asked for a 50% deposit on the first cleaning, with payment due at the time of service.
What if something gets missed?
Their own stated policy, in their words: “We are human and things do sometimes get missed but we will always make it back to fix it.” If you are not happy with the service they will come back and put it right at no cost within 48 hours.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Closed Sundays, and closed most major holidays.
